Stewardship

Building systems to care better for what is entrusted to us.

For more than thirty years I have worked at the intersection of mathematics, technology and human decision-making — helping people become better stewards of what has been entrusted to them.

“Stewardship is the philosophy. Assurance is the discipline. Technology is the enabler. Better outcomes are the result.”

My Mission

Creativity and Innovation, Passion For Life

My life's work is to make stewardship possible at scale — creating methods and systems that preserve human individuality, meaning and agency as complexity grows, and provide the assurance that what matters most is being cared for responsibly, accountably and well.

My Current Focus Areas

Primary MTP

To accelerate the transition to a world where every investor can trust that their portfolio continuously reflects what matters to them.

Secondary MTP

To accelerate the transition to integrated leadership and governance models that foster collaboration between leaders and those they serve.

Visions and Moonshots

Visions — What I envisage will become a new normal:

  • Investing will be driven by consumer stories and technology, with professionals filling in the gaps.
  • Governance of humanity will be through increased stewardship and run through a system that everyone contributes to.

Moonshots — What I Am Seeking to Achieve in the short term. Be in touch if you can help me with these

  • Build Financial Simplicity into a global technology platform enabling stewardship of investor portfolios at scale for 1 million investors.
  • Build Better into a recognised method for enhancing stewardship and making 1 million people's lives better.
  • Consentia — help a million investors get more confidence they are investing their money in ways that most benefit them.

Every generation inherits things it does not truly own.

For a period of time, we are entrusted with their care. The real question is never whether we possess them — it is whether we will leave them better than we found them.

What I Believe

Four principles that shape the work.

01

Stewardship is humanity's greatest responsibility

Every meaningful role in society is ultimately a stewardship role. Parents steward children. Teachers steward learning. Doctors steward health. Advisers steward wealth. Executives steward organisations. Governments steward nations.

02

Trust should be earned continuously

Trust is best achieved through demonstration with transparency, evidence and accountability — the best assurance systems make it easy for good people to prove they are acting in the interests of those they serve.

03

Personalisation is replacing standardisation

Technology now allows every individual to receive decisions tailored specifically to their own circumstances. As decisions become more personalised, stewardship becomes more demanding and assurance becomes more important.

04

Technology should amplify human judgement

Artificial intelligence should not replace human wisdom. Its greatest value lies in helping people make better decisions, identify emerging risks, reduce mistakes and focus more time on what truly matters.

Philosophy & Discipline

Stewardship defines the destination. Assurance provides the compass.

Where we go

Stewardship

Building systems that help people care better for what has been entrusted to them. Every person, organisation and institution is entrusted with responsibilities that influence the lives of others.

How we know

Assurance

Independently evaluating whether responsibilities are being fulfilled as intended. Assurance transforms stewardship from a noble ideal into something that can be continuously monitored, improved and trusted.

Applied

Applying Stewardship

The principles of stewardship and assurance extend across every part of society.

Stewardship of Self

Helping individuals better care for their health, wellbeing, finances, relationships and personal development.

Supporting parents, carers and families in creating stronger relationships and better long-term outcomes.

03 / ORGANISATIONS

My Work

Reducing complex systems to simple questions.

  • 01How do we know something is working?
  • 02How do we know people are receiving what they should?
  • 03How do we identify small problems before they become significant failures?
  • 04How can technology increase trust rather than simply automate processes?
Looking Forward

Stewardship as a discipline in its own right.

Leadership teaches us how to influence. Management teaches us how to organise. Governance defines responsibilities. Assurance verifies accountability.

Stewardship brings them together around one enduring question: how well are we caring for what has been entrusted to us?

If we can answer that question with increasing clarity, transparency and evidence, we can build stronger organisations, healthier communities and a more trustworthy society.
